In the early evening of Wednesday 31^st December 2014 police were alerted to a family group of bushwalkers overdue from a bushwalk in the south west area of Lake Rhona, near Maydena.

The group consisting of two adults and 2 children, all from the same family were returning when they were unable to cross a section of the Gordon River due to recent rain and the sudden rise of the river.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched around 10am on Thursday 1^st January 2015. The group was airlifted across the river and conveyed to their nearby vehicle.

The party was well prepared, well equipped and uninjured.
