At 8:00am on Sunday 18/1/15 Tasmania Police Search and rescue were notified of a PLB activation in south west Tasmania. The PLB had been activated by two Tasmanian men aged 49 and 55 at the Richea Creek crossing of the Gordon River.

The men had walked to Lake Rhona and back during the week and arrived at the crossing on Friday morning. Due to high water they were unable to cross. The men waited two days but due to high rainfall the river continued to rise.

Due to the PLB activation the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated and collected the men from the western bank of the river.

Both men were uninjured.
