Helicopter Rescue – Dove Lake and Rosebery
At approximately 7:00pm on Sunday 2/2/14 Tasmania Police Search and Rescue were called to assist a 29 year old French man who had become ill on the Dove Lake track near Cradle Mountain. A land based police SAR member attended initially but the man could not be moved due to his deteriorating condition. Subsequently the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to attend the scene.
The helicopter arrived after dark at approximately 10:20pm. A winching operation followed and the man was flown to the Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition.
At 12:30am on Monday 3/2/14 whilst returning to Hobart from the rescue at Dove Lake Ambulance Tasmania diverted the helicopter to Rosebery to medivac a woman who was suffering from a serious medical condition. The helicopter landed at an oval and the 61 year old Rosebery woman was also airlifted to the Launceston Hospital.
The helicopter returned to its Hobart base at 5:30am
