Helicopter Mission – Bruny Island (8-Feb)
About 1205hrs yesterday emergency services were informed a male person had suffered a suspected cardiac arrest on a 6.5mtr vessel that was fishing south of Bruny Island.
Due to the location the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated for the mission. At the time the helicopter was on another mission at Tarraleah and had to return to Rotorlift to reconfigure and refuel before attending Bruny Island.
Friends of the patient had commenced CPR and drove their vessel aground on Lighthouse Bay Beach, Bruny Island and transferred their friend to the beach and continued CPR.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter landed nearby and the paramedic and police rescue crews attended the patient. The male was found to be deceased a short time later.
