At 5.40pm on Friday 12 December 2014, Police Radio Dispatch Services were contacted via satellite phone by a walking party on the South Coast Track at Little Deadmans Bay. A guide for an organised walking party had suffered a knee injury.

As a result the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated and winched the man to safety prior to flying him to Hobart.
