At 1430hrs today the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was activated to medivac a 34 year old Smithton man from the Leven River. He had been on a bushwalk when he was bitten twice on the hand by a tiger snake.

The man was treated by a flight paramedic before being winched into the helicopter and flown to the North West Regional Hospital in a stable condition.
