Health Warning – Synthetic Drugs
Tasmania Police wish to issue a health warning about the use of synthetic drugs which are designed to copy the effects of cannabis.
Types of these drugs which have recently come to the attention of the Drug Investigation Services throughout the state are being sold under the brand names of ‘Marley’, ‘Malibu’, ‘Green Lantern’, ‘White Devil’ and ‘WR-X’.
Possession and use of these drugs is illegal under the Misuse of Drugs Act. Despite this, these drugs are currently being sold through various business outlets within Tasmania.
Police have seized drugs from a number of retail premises and investigations are continuing.
Known effects suffered by users who have been hospitalised include, but are not limited to, uncontrollable drooling, agitation, delusional behaviour, loss of balance, and an inability to speak and in some cases seizures.
These drugs are dangerous and Tasmania Police strongly urge anyone in possession of these drugs not to use them.
