Grand Final Day Traffic Operations
On the evening of the 2024 AFL Grand Final, police in the south of the state had a strong focus on road safety. During the course of the night, a number of random breath testing sites were conducted by Road Policing officers and in amongst a busy Saturday night responding to incidents, Uniform officers were also intercepting vehicles.
Throughout the night, over 600 random breath tests were conducted as well as a number of illicit drug tests.
While pleased to see that the majority of road users were obeying our road rules, the following offences were detected:
10 x Drink drivers
2 x Positive oral fluid tests for illicit substances
2 x Disqualified drivers
Disappointingly, 3 of those drink drivers were driving whilst 3 times over the legal limit.
Police would like to remind everyone that road safety is everyone’s priority, please do the right thing out on the roads to keep everyone safe.
