Global Corporate Challenge Award

For the second consecutive year the Department of Police and Emergency Management is to be recognised as a leading active organisation.

Promoting a healthy and active lifestyle, 70 employees took part in this year’s Global Corporate Challenge.  Combining walking, swimming and cycling and converting steps to kilometres, this year’s teams covered an overall distance of 73,664km.

Each participant wears a pedometer and is encouraged to aim for 10,000 steps daily.  Over the 16-week challenge, DPEM participants surpassed the 10,000-step target, completing an average daily step tally of 15,100 steps, or an average daily distance of 9.7km.

Yet again a team based in the Latrobe sub-division ranked number 1 of the ten DPEM teams.  Team Captain Christine Martin and now-retired Sgt Rockie Lee credit their win to teamwork, encouragement and the drive to succeed.

The Account Director for the Global Corporate Challenge, Louise Mangan, will present the Global Award for outstanding achievement today at 2pm Temple House Board Room, corner of Liverpool/Argyle Streets.
