Glenorchy home ransacked: Vehicle and Ornamental Weapons Stolen
Detectives from Glenorchy Criminal Investigation Branch are seeking witnesses after a house was entered and ransacked in Vieste Drive, Glenorchy last night.
The offender or offenders broke into the home sometime between 6.50pm and 8.15pm while the residents were out for dinner.
A number of ornamental weapons were stolen including 18 collectable knives and a display case containing three ornamental hand guns. The guns were mounted in frames and not able to be fired.
A white Mitsubishi Triton dual cab utility was also stolen and later recovered in Salier St, Bridgewater.
Other items stolen include two iPads and a laptop computer.
The replica firearms are described as silver in colour and early to mid-1900’s vintage handguns. The replica firearms are sawn in half.
Some of the knives are described as featuring American ‘Wild West’ images on the handles and some as featuring military–style images. They do not have any significant monetary value.
Anyone who saw the white Mitsubishi Triton utility with registration EK 0050 or who is offered unusual knives, a laptop or iPad for sale is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 quoting offence report number 512873.
Police would like to remind homeowners to be vigilant with their security by locking doors, making sure keys and other valuables are not left in plain sight and to consider improved security measures.
