Glenorchy CIB investigate alleged armed robbery – Elwick Hotel, Glenorchy
Glenorchy CIB is investigating the alleged armed robbery of the Elwick Hotel in Glenorchy during the early hours of this morning.
A person concealing their face entered the Elwick Hotel on Main Road Glenorchy about 2.55am this morning and produced a firearm. The person demanded money and then fled.
The person may have been driving a red or maroon coloured 1995 model Suburu stationwagon, registration DJ 3639, which was stolen from Hill Street in West Hobart, overnight.
A Subaru stationwagon was seen before the robbery at the BP Service Station in Lindisfarne about 2.35am and was then found burnt out in Wesley Place, Chigwell, after the robbery.
“Forensic investigators and Detectives are on the scene conducting examinations. Anyone, including shop or service station workers, who may have seen the Subaru stationwagon in West Hobart or in the early hours of this morning in Lindisfarne or Glenorchy is asked to contact Crime Stoppers. Information can be given anonymously,” Det Inspector Craig Joel said.
“A man leaving the hotel just before the robbery is also asked to come forward and speak with police. He is not thought to be involved.”
