George Town man charged over firearms incident
A man has been charged over a firearms incident at George Town yesterday.
Police were called just before 1pm Thursday after reports a firearm was allegedly discharged at a vehicle.
A man was inside the vehicle at the time but was not physically injured.
Police attended a George Town residence and a 20 year old George Town man was arrested.
During a subsequent search of that address, police located and seized a homemade pistol, a second homemade firearm, firearm parts, ammunition, and quantities of methylamphetamine.
The George Town man has been charged with multiple offences including recklessly discharge a firearm, aggravated assault, reckless driving, driving unlicensed, minor drug offences, and multiple other firearms-related offences.
He was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court this morning.
