George Town Assault
At approximately 6.30am on Friday 9 November 2012, George Town police were called to a report of a man unconscious in a George Town street. The man, a 33 year old George Town resident, was taken to the Launceston General Hospital by ambulance in a serious but stable condition.
The circumstances surrounding the events that let to the man being found in Agnes Street, George Town are being investigated. Police have not ruled out the possibility that the man was assaulted as he walked along Agnes Street in the early hours of the morning. It is believed he was lying on the ground for approximately two hours before help arrived.
Attending police treated the area as a crime scene and a forensic examination was conducted.
The man was treated at the LGH and discharged some days later. He received multiple bruising injuries to his body.
