Fraud investigation
As a result of a joint investigation between the Department of Education and Detectives from the Western Criminal Investigation Branch, a 24 year old Strahan woman will be proceeded against in relation to the theft and misuse of money from the Strahan Primary School. She will appear in court at a later date.
A number of offences have been identified after a protracted investigation relating to the theft of approximately $60,000 over an extended period.
The investigation commenced when school management detected irregularities in school accounts.
“Irregularities were identified in accounts relating to the school at which time school management acted swiftly and worked in close co-operation with police,” said Detective Constable Mark Johnston.
