Franklin River Rescue
Five people have been rescued from the Franklin River in the state’s south west after their raft overturned.
Police were notified of the incident shortly before noon today, and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the area.
On arrival at the scene, it was established that a group of recreational rafters had been involved in a rafting incident on the Franklin River two days earlier.
The group had only been able to notify authorities today.
Five people received non-life threatening injuries in the incident.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter is being utilised to transport the patients due to the remote location of the area.
