The body recovered from a large rural property between Oatlands and Orford on 3 June 2017 has been formally identified as that of missing man, Dwayne Robert Davies.

Mr Davies was reported missing late on 27 May 2017.

The sympathies of Tasmania Police are with Mr Davies loved ones at this difficult time.

An autopsy of the body has identified that Mr Davies died as a result of a gunshot wound.

Investigations surrounding the circumstances of his death are still continuing.
