Fisheries offender detected on the West Coast near Strahan

Marine police conducted a surveillance operation targeting crayfish offenders at Macquarie Heads near Strahan over the weekend.

“A 36-year-old man from Queenstown was intercepted on Sunday and found to be in possession of four undersized rock lobster, and he had also failed to clip the tails of the recreationally-caught crayfish,” said Constable Wayne Bradford,

The crayfish were measured and returned to the water, and the man is facing charges and a fine of $6516.00

“Police encourage people to practice responsible fishing, and remind those who fail to abide by regulations that penalties apply, including the seizing of boats, cars and fines”.
