Firearms theft at Gagebrook

Police are currently investigating the burglary of a Gagebrook residence which occurred over the weekend, during which a quantity of firearms were stolen.

The burglary is believed to have occurred sometime between Saturday 4 October and Sunday 5 October, and was discovered when the occupant returned on Sunday afternoon.

The offenders have entered the residence and then gained entry to a secure internal room where a substantial firearms collection was housed. Firearms storage units within that room were then entered and a variety of firearms removed. At this stage there appears to be 18 long arm firearms unaccounted for. The majority are .22 calibre bolt action rifles, including target rifles, as well as 4 break action 12 gauge shotguns.

Police have taken possession of the remainder of the collection on behalf of the owner while arrangements are being made for their secure long term storage at an alternative location.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information relating to the burglary, or anyone who has knowledge of any person coming into possession of firearms.
