Firearms incident Bridgewater
At about 1pm on Sunday 7 April 2013, Police were alerted to a shooting which occurred on the footpath of the Jordan River Bridge, East Derwent Highway, Bridgewater.
A 24-year-old male from Derby sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of an altercation occurring in the area, during which a firearm was discharged. The male was conveyed to hospital by Ambulance. He is in a stable condition.
Police believe the parties involved are known to each other and this incident is the result of an ongoing altercation.
At this time the offender has not been arrested, however, Police are following specific lines of enquiry. Police do not believe the offender to be a threat to the general public.
Police are seeking assistance from members of the community who may have seen the incident on the bridge or can assist with current location of the offender.
