Firearms, drugs and money seized
Western District Drug Investigation Services have seized firearms and drugs after an ongoing investigation involving affiliates of the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.
At approximately 7am 29 May 2012 members from Western District Drug Investigation Services intercepted a motor vehicle leaving the Spirit of Tasmania terminal East Devonport.
As a result of this search a quantity of amphetamine was located. The drugs are yet to be analysed but police estimate the value at about $15,000.
Subsequently a search was conducted of a property at Mission Hill Road Penguin. During this search three firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were located. The firearms were a shortened .22 automatic firearm and two silencers, a hand gun and a SKS fully automatic assault rifle.
A 24 year old female from Heybridge has been charged with firearms offences and a 32 year old Penguin male, who is affiliated with the Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, has been charged with firearms offences and drug trafficking.
The pair will appear in the Devonport Magisrates Court at a later date.
