Firearms Amnesty Weekend – Granton Park
Wondering what to do with firearms you don’t want?
Tasmania Police is raising awareness about the state’s permanent firearm amnesty by establishing a mobile Police Station at Granton Park this weekend.
Anyone with an unwanted or unregistered firearm or ammunition has the opportunity to hand them over at the mobile police station, knowing they will be disposed of safely. Police officers can also provide advice about the appropriate storage requirements.
“We want to remind people who have unwanted firearms that Tasmania has a permanent amnesty for handing them to police or to a registered firearms dealer,” said Detective Acting Inspector, Craig Joel.
The mobile Police Station will be set up at Granton Park this weekend between 9am & 5pm daily. There will be a designated parking area and people are asked to ensure their firearms are not loaded.
Information on unregistered firearms or firearm crime can be passed on to the Police officers at the mobile station, or by calling Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
