Firearm thefts from Latrobe
At approximately 3.45 am on Sunday 1 August 2010 entry was gained to Wells Home Hardware in Gilbert Street Latrobe by smashing a glass door leading into to the ladieswear section of the shop.
Once inside the offender has removed a quantity of firearms from the shop and left the store. The offender was observed by a member of the public who gave chase and observed the man run north from the store, across Gilbert Street, through a fence, into a reserve known as Kings Park. At this point the offender has then threatened the witness with the firearms and ran further into the reserve.
The offender is described as being approximately 6 foot tall wearing a balaclava, black jumper and blue jeans.
Members from the Devonport Uniform Section, Devonport Criminal Investigation Branch and Western Forensic Services attended the scene and conducted a full and thorough examination.
Police wish to speak to anyone in the area of Gilbert street or Kings Park at the time of the incident or anyone who may have information relating to this offence.
