Tasmania Police has been responding to the fire situation facing southern Tasmania overnight. More than 100 police officers have been assisting the communities in areas affected by the fires.

The following communities have been significantly affected. Dunalley, Boomer Bay, Forcett, Primrose Sands, Connelly’s Marsh, and Susans Bay.

Tasmania Police request that property owners and members of the public avoid attending these areas until further advised.

Emergency Services including Aurora are assessing damage and any potential risks prior to advising members of the community that they can return to their homes or area.

Emergency Services appreciated cooperation afforded by the public in responding to this significant event and would value continued support whilst we endeavour to make the area safe.
