About 12 midnight on 10/4/2016, Tas Police and Tas Fire Service units attended the report of a fire in a charity collection bin at the rear of the St Vincent De Paul building in Smithton.  The building sustained smoke damage and the fire was quickly extinguished by Tas Fire.

No staff or people were present when the fire started. Nil injuries occurred

The fire is suspected to be deliberately lit, however the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Fire Scene Examiners are due on the scene this morning.
