About 12.30am, on Tuesday 15th of March 2011, a 52 year old woman died in a house fire at Mayfield.

Emergency Services were called and found the house well alight. The woman was dragged from the house but was unable to be revived. A 13 year old girl, who was in the residence at the time, escaped and was taken to the Launceston General Hospital for observation.

Tasmania Police, in conjunction with Tasmania Fire Service will conduct a fire scene examination to determine the cause of the fire.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
