Around 5:00am this morning, Tasmanian Fire Service and Tasmania Police responded to a report of a fire at the Wilmot Country Store.

The fire completely destroyed the store, all stock and the adjoining residence. Occupants of the residence were home at the time but managed to escape uninjured.

The cause of the fire is undetermined. Investigations are being conducted to determine the exact cause.

The damage bill is estimated between $550,000.00 – $600,000.00.
