Overnight on Wednesday 14th July 2010, a fire occurred within the public toilet block located on Coles Beach Road, Devonport. The fire caused extensive damage and the toilet block has been destroyed. The toilet block is the property of the Devonport City Council and damage is estimated at $80,000.

Emergency services were notified of the fire by a member of the public who made the discovery at approximately 6.10 a.m. while out walking. Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police subsequently attended. The fire was determined to be deliberately lit.
