Police this afternoon took a fifth person into custody as part of their ongoing investigation into the serious assault of a man in Waverley on 10^TH  January.

The 24- year-old Launceston man was taken into custody at a residence in Norwood this afternoon and has been charged with Attempted Murder and Aggravated Armed Robbery.  He will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am on Wednesday the 16^th January.

The 48-year-old victim remains in a serious condition in the Launceston General Hospital.
