Tasmanian Police will have a proactive and highly visible police presence at entertainment venues over the festive season to make sure everyone can celebrate in a safe environment.

Proactive police patrols will occur in the entertainment areas of Hobart, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie over the coming days, including New Year’s Eve on Sunday.

“Additional high visibility police patrols will visit entertainment areas and licensed premises to deter alcohol-related violence and offences,” said Inspector Jo Stolp.

“The risk of anti-social behaviour is higher when large groups of people consume alcohol and we’re urging everyone to drink responsibly.

“We want people to have a good time but reinforce to everyone not to over indulge and let their behaviour ruin the night for anyone else.

“Look out for your mates and always have a plan to get home safely.”
