Fatal two vehicle crash – Tasman Highway, Buckland – 31/04/2019
A 36 year old female from Triabunna has died following a two vehicle crash which occurred on the Tasman Highway approximately 8 kilometres north of Buckland on Sunday the 31st day of March 2019 at approximately 6:15pm.
The crash occurred when the female lost control of her white 1991 Nissan Pulsar whilst attempting to negotiate a left hand curve in the road whilst travelling north towards Triabunna.
At this time a 50 year old male and 40 year old female, both from Huonville were travelling south towards Buckland in a 2012 black Nissan Navara utility which was towing a trailer. The male driver of the Nissan observed the out of control Pulsar and attempted to take evasive action however he was unable to avoid a head on collision with the Pulsar.
Unfortunately the female was declared deceased at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics. The two occupants of the Navara were conveyed by road ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police, Tasmania Ambulance Service, TFS and SES all attended the scene. The Tasman Highway at the location of the crash was closed until 1am whilst Police Forensic and Crash Investigation Services personnel investigated the scene. Traffic in the area was light and was able to be diverted.
