Fatal two vehicle crash – Bass Highway – Deloraine

On the evening of Monday the 15th June 2015, Police and Emergency services were called to a two vehicle crash on the Bass Highway, Deloraine.

It appears that a White Holden Utility, travelling west,  has crossed onto the incorrect side of the road, colliding head on with a Mack Prime Mover attached to a laden trailer.

A Launceston man aged in his early 20s died at the scene and the 45 year old Truck driver was admitted to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The impact has caused the truck to crash into a tree and burst into flames.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged and the Bass Highway was closed to some time.

The matter is being investigated by Northern Crash Investigation Unit and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
