On Saturday 25 July 2015 at 5.05am police were called out to a truck crash which was phoned in by a passing motorist. Police located a 4.5 tonne truck on the Heemskirk Road 8 kilometres north west of Zeehan.

It appears that the truck failed to negotiate a decline right hand corner where it rode the deep culvert for over 50 metres. The driver who has been identified was thrown from the vehicle and has likely died instantly from the injuries received.

Enquires revealed that the truck was removed from a premises in Zeehan.

This crash is being investigated to determine if alcohol, speed and failing to wear a seat belt were factors in this crash.
