Fatal Single Vehicle Crash – Huon Highway near Dover (9-March)
A 51 year old Dover man died as the result of a single vehicle crash on the Huon Highway south of Dover at approximately 3pm on Sunday the 9th day of March 2014.
The deceased was the front seat passenger in an early model grey Ford Fairlane sedan which was being driven in a northerly direction by a 50 year old male from Dover.
The crash occurred when the vehicle failed to negotiate a closed right hand bend. The vehicle veered off the road and slid along an embankment before rolling and coming to rest approximately 70 metres north of the curve.
The 50 year old male driver received treatment at the scene. He was later interviewed by crash investigators. He has been charged with Dangerous Driving Causing Death. He is in custody to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court on the morning of Monday the 10th of March 2014.
The crash investigator, Constable Adam HALL would like to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed the crash or seen the grey Ford Fairlane sedan prior to the incident.
