On January 31 2020 at 11:48 pm Tasmania Police and Ambulance Tasmania were alerted to a single vehicle crash on Durkins Road, Quoiba. Upon arrival at the scene police located a vehicle which had left the road and crashed into trees. The 17 year old driver of the vehicle was located deceased in the vehicle.

Resources from Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Fire Service and State Emergency Service were utilised at the scene.

At the time the road surface was wet from recent rain.  Early indications are that road conditions and inexperience are contributing factors in relation to the crash.

The matter is being ·investigated by the Crash Investigation Unit, Burnie.
