Sadly, a 73 year old Bellingham man has died following a single vehicle crash on Lilydale Road this morning.

The fatal single vehicle collision occurred on Lilydale Road, on Fingerpost Hill, between Rocherlea and Pipers River Road, 1.1km north of Barnards Creek about 6.40am.

Initial investigations indicate a white 2004 Toyota Hilux 2wd utility, travelling south towards Launceston, drove off the left side of the roadway while travelling down Fingerpost Hill.

After leaving the roadway, the vehicle entered a ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its roof.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle suffered extensive injuries and sadly died at the scene.

Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.

Crash Investigation and Forensic Services attended the scene and investigations are continuing to determine the cause of the crash.

Speed is not considered to be a factor in the crash.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
