Fatal motorcycle crash at Lilydale on Sunday 8th February 2015
At about 3pm on Sunday 8th February 2015 a motorcycle travelling south on Lilydale Road, Lilydale was struck by a large round bale of hay that had fallen from a truck that was travelling north.
The hay bale was still moving when it struck the motorcycle, having fallen from the truck as the two vehicles were passing.
The riders on the motorcycle were a married couple from Prospect and both died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police are asking that anyone who saw a white Western Star truck and trailer transporting large round bales of wrapped hay from Westbury towards Lilydale to contact the Crash Investigation Section in Launceston on 6777 3936.
