Fatal motor vehicle crash – Frankford Highway

About 12pm today, Sunday, 15 October 2017 Western District Police responded to a single vehicle crash on the Frankford Highway, just west of the Rubicon River, Harford.

Initial investigations indicate that the white Hyundai was travelling west on the highway and the driver, a 78 year old Devonport man, lost control of that vehicle on a corner and it rolled several times before coming to rest in a farm paddock. The driver and sole occupant of that vehicle died at the scene.

At this stage police consider speed to be the likely contributing factor to the accident, however this matter is subject to an ongoing crash investigation. A report will be prepared for the coroner to determine the cause of the accident and the death of the occupant at a later date.

Acting Sergeant Scott POKE said; “It is sad to see another life lost on Tasmanian roads, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased. Tasmania Police is working hard to reduce the annual incidents of death and serious injury on our roads.”
