Tasmania Police have released the name of the driver of a red 4wd Toyota Hilux who was killed in a single vehicle crash on the Murchison Highway at Oonah on Australia Day.

He was Daniel Peter CHATWIN, 26 years of Somerset.

Mr CHATWIN was killed when his vehicle collided with an embankment after he failed to negotiate a right curve. He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Investigations into the matter are on-going and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
