At 9:20pm, Saturday 26 May 2017 emergency services were notified of a single motor vehicle crash on Nuttings Road, Meander. On arrival emergency personnel worked to free a 26 year old male driver from Meander who was trapped in a Toyota utility. Medical treatment was provided by attending Tasmanian Ambulance personnel, however he died at the scene.

Initial investigations appear that speed may have been a factor in the crash. There were no other occupants of the vehicle.

Police would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle or crash by contacting them on 131 444 or alternatively Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
