Fatal Motor Cycle Crash on Black Hills Road Magra at 8.25pm on Sunday the 25th day of February 2018

At approximately 8.25pm on Sunday the 25th day of February 2018 a crash involving a motor vehicle and motor cycle occurred on Black Hills Road at Magra.

The crash occurred when a grey Statesman sedan driven by a 65 year old male from Glenorchy has reversed from a residential driveway onto Black Hills Road with the intention of travelling in an easterly direction towards New Norfolk.

At this time two motor cycles were travelling westbound on Black Hills Road.  One of the motor cycles was a red and white 900cc Honda.  This motor cycle was being ridden by a 35 year old Herdsmans Cove man.

The motor cycle has impacted the front driver’s side quadrant of the Statesman.

Attempts to resuscitate the rider of the Honda were to no avail.  He was declared deceased at the scene by ambulance paramedics.

The driver of the Statesman was not physically injured.

Black Hills Road in the area of the crash was closed for several hours whilst Crash Investigation and Forensic Officers examined the scene.

The investigator, Sergeant Rod CARRICK would like to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed the crash or observed two motor cycles travelling from the direction of Herdsmans Cove towards New Norfolk around 5.15pm on Sunday the 25th day of February 2018.
