At about 9.14am (17 April 2013) today a Porsche Coupe participating in Targa Tasmania crashed into a large tree whilst travelling on Porters Bridge Road, Exton.  The 71 year old driver from NSW died at the scene. The 26 year old male navigator suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Launceston General Hospital for treatment. His condition is described as stable.

The crash occurred in a closed section of the Targa event.  No other vehicles were involved.

The crash is subject to an investigation by Tasmania Police.

A report is being prepared for the Coroner.
