Sadly police can confirm a 27-year-old woman died in a two car crash in Longford this morning.

Approximately 5am police were called to the scene of a head on collision on Illawarra Road, approximately 1km West of the Wellington Street intersection.

Located at the scene was a red Kia Carnival van and a white Fuso medium rigid truck.

The driver of the Kia, a 27-year-old Launceston woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Fuso, a 63-year-old Evandale man, was transported to the Launceston General Hospital with a leg injury.

Northern Crash Investigation Services attended the scene and are investigating the crash.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw a red Kia Carnival driving on Illawarra Road prior to the crash. Information can be provided to Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
