Fatal crash on Bass Highway, Carrick
Sadly, a man in his 50s has died following a crash on the Bass Highway at Carrick this morning.
Police were called to the scene about 6:20am in response to a multiple vehicle crash.
Shortly after that crash, a truck has collided with three cars and a motorcyclist.
Police and emergency services provided assistance to the motorcyclist, but sadly he died at the scene.
Another man, the driver of a white Toyota Hilux, received serious injuries and was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.
A man who was the driver of a Mitsubishi dual-cab, and a man who was driving an Amarok dual-cab received non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was not physically injured.
Anyone with information or relevant dash cam footage, is asked to contact police on 131 444. Information can be provided anonymously.
Representatives from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator are also investigating.
Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones, and all those affected by the crash. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
