Approximately 3pm on Tuesday the 30^th of October, 2012 a two vehicle collision occurred on the Tasman Highway 5 kilometres north of Swansea.

A 77 year old female from Bicheno was driving a grey Honda sedan in a southerly direction on the Tasman Highway when her vehicle crossed to the incorrect side of the road.  At this time a blue Toyota hatch being driven in a northerly direction by a 28 year old male from Taroona has collided with the Honda.

The driver of the Honda was the only occupant of the vehicle.  There was a 27 year old female passenger also from Taroona in the Toyota at the time of the crash. 

The driver of the Honda died enroute to hospital.  The driver of the Toyota was conveyed by ambulance to the Royal Hobart Hospital.  He is in a stable condition with leg injuries.  The female passenger in the Toyota was air lifted to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a critical condition.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses who may have seen either vehicle prior to the crash.
