Fatal crash Murchison Highway
At approximately 11.20am today 11/11/10 a two vehicle collision occurred on the Murchison Highway at Somerset. The scene was approximately 250 meters south from Haywoods Lane junction.
Police believe a red Ford Laser hatchback was being driven north by a 38 year old Yolla man when it collided with a white Isuzu truck being driven south by a 31 year old Ridgley man. As a result of the collision the driver and sole occupant of the Ford Laser was killed instantly. The truck driver was uninjured.
The Ford was extensively damaged and was pushed onto the eastern side of the road. The truck suffered moderate damage under the front and was un-drivable. It came to stop across both lanes of the highway.
The Murchison Highway was closed until about 3.30 pm while Accident Investigation officers and Transport Inspectors carried out investigations and cleared the scene.
At the time of the collision the road was dry and the weather was fine and clear.
