Fatal crash Lennah Valley

An 87 year old male from Lennah Valley has died after being struck by a motor vehicle on Girrabong road, Lennah Valley in the vicinity of Baldwin Place. The crash occurred on Thursday the 2nd day of July 2015 at approximately 15:47pm.

The male was walking in a southbound direction on Girrabong road towards Kalang Avenue when he attempted to cross to the western side of the road before being struck by a gold coloured 2001 Mazda Premacy which was travelling north.

The male was declared deceased at the scene by Tasmania Ambulance personnel.

The driver of the vehicle, a 37 year old male also of Lennah Valley was uninjured in the crash.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing however the speed of the vehicle alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a contributing factor.

The crash investigator, Sergeant Rod CARRICK, would like to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed the crash or seen either the vehicle or pedestrian prior to the incident.
