Fatal crash involving cyclist – Riverside (29 Dec)
At 0825 am on Sunday the 29th December 2013 two cyclists were on a training ride on the West Tamar Highway, Riverside. They were travelling on the left hand side of the left lane when the outer cyclist was struck from behind by a white Nissan utility.
As a result of the impact the cyclist was killed instantly.
Northern Forensic and Crash Investigation officers attended the scene. Police ask that anybody who may have witnessed the crash, observed the two cyclists or the white Nissan utility prior to the crash to contact Northern Crash Investigation on 6336 3936.
Police also remind motorists that cyclists have a right to be on the roadway and to give them sufficient room. When following cyclists, motorists are asked to remain patient until they can pass safely. Cyclists are reminded to ride as far left as practical and to be conscious of other road users.
