At 6.30 pm on Sunday the 8^th July 2012 a two vehicle crash occurred on Illawarra Road, about 200 metres west of Perth.  It was a head-on crash involving a Holden Vectra and a Suzuki Swift in which the driver of the Holden, a 33 year old man from St Leonards, was killed.  The driver of the Suzuki was a 21 year old female from Deloraine who received non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the Launceston General Hospital where it was reported she was in a serious but stable condition. 

Constable Housego of Northern Crash Investigation Services said “Initial investigations by police place the Holden Vectra on the incorrect side of the road which has led to the collision.”  Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing and will be subject to a Coroner’s Inquest.
