Fatal Crash – Huon Highway, Huonville
A 50 year old female from Waterloo has died as the result of a two vehicle crash on Huon Highway, Huonville.
The crash occurred on Saturday the 29th of August 2020 around 11:25am, outside the Huonville Waste Transfer Station when a southbound Holden Colorado collided with a BMW sedan. Initial investigations suggest the BMW was turning right out of the Waste Transfer Station when the collision occurred.
The crash was observed by several witnesses who contacted emergency services. Ambulance Tasmania, Tasmania Police, Tasmania Fire Service and SES personnel arrived at the scene swiftly. The female driver of the BMW was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her passenger, a 14 year old female was taken to Royal Hobart Hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Holden, a 30 year old male from Huonville was uninjured.
Forensic Services and Crash Investigation Services personnel attended the scene and conducted an investigation. Investigations into the factors causing the collision are continuing. Alcohol or drugs are not considered to be a contributing factor.
Huon Highway at the crash location was reduced to one lane for five hours whilst investigations were carried out.
