At approximately 2.35pm, Tuesday 10 January 2012, Police were advised of two vehicle crash on Golconda Road, Lilydale, at the junction of Second River Road.  A blue Mercedes sedan and a prime mover towing an empty flat bed trailer were involved.

The prime mover was travelling in a northerly direction on Lilydale/Golconda Roadand being driven by a 49 yo male driver from Prospect.  The driver of the prime mover did not receive and physical injuries as a result of the collision.

The blue Mercedes sedan was being driven in an easterly direction on Second River Roadby a 24yo female from Western Australia.  She died instantly from injuries received as a result of the impact.  A 20 yo male passenger in the Mercedes, also from Western Australia, received serious injuries and was conveyed to the Launceston GeneralHospital.

Police are seeking witnesses to the crash, or those that may have seen either vehicle prior to the crash.  They are asked to contact Northern Crash Investigation Services on 6336 3936 or 6336 3701 with any information.
